BJA FY 2026 Public Safety and Mental Health Initiative

This grant supports comprehensive service networks that address untreated mental illness and substance use to lessen law-enforcement burdens, reduce crime, and improve public safety. It funds coordinated, direct-intervention efforts across public safety, justice, mental-health and substance-use agencies, including civil commitment, institutional treatment, and step-down approaches from pre-arrest through re-entry.
