This program funds projects that develop, train and test AI foundation models for energy applications using large, high-quality data sets. It supports methods for secure data gathering, sharing and FAIR open-source AI tools that improve grid observability, forecasting, storage, renewables integration, demand-side flexibility and energy efficiency.
