Division of Materials Research: Condensed Matter and Materials Theory (CMMT)

This grant supports theoretical and computational research that advances fundamental understanding of hard and soft materials and related phenomena. It funds development of analytical, computational, and data-centric techniques, as well as predictive theory, simulation, and modeling using methods such as first-principles electronic structure, quantum many-body theory, statistical mechanics, Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics, and emerging machine-learning approaches.
